Our boats

Laser

The Laser dinghy is one of the most popular single handed dinghies with over 190,000 produced and sailed around the world. This has been recognized by the class’s inclusion at the Olympics. The design emphasizes simplicity and performance making it an exciting boat to sail. The varying sail plan (size of sail) allows the boat to be sailed by people with varying weights. This makes the boat usable to everyone in different condition. The Laser class attracts large fleets making it a great boat for racing at every level. They are sailed regularly at most clubs in SA including at our Club.

The AUSC has 3 Lasers, and has several sail options to go on each one. They are an exciting boat to race and a great learning boat.

Tasar

The Tasar is the fastest, lightest, most responsive dinghy in the world that needs neither spinnaker nor trapeze to achieve its incredible performance in all wind conditions. The boat offers a great opportunity to learn finer sailing techniques of larger boats due to the many fine trim options available. Designed to be sailed by two, the boat is still very comfortable with three providing a good opportunity for new people to sailing out on the water and be directly involved.

The AUSC has a Tasar that is in great condition and has been raced in the Tasar Nationals before. It has several sail combination's and is a great competition or training boat.
